At lunchtime on Wednesday 12th March 2003, H.R.H. The Prince of Wales arrived in Penrith to make a much awaited visit to the Toffee Shop. On his arrival the Prince was greeted by a group of children who had gathered outside their school in Brunswick Road.

As an existing customer of the Toffee Shop through his business at Highgrove, the Prince was very keen to see the Fudge and Toffee being made, showing a special interest in the ingredients used.

Having been shown round the kitchen, H.R.H was asked if he would like to have a go at stirring the pans which he enthusiastically accepted.
